Jazz Ensemble 2022-2023 Audition Music 

WINDS - Audition will consist of:

     1) As many Major Scales Swung (Up to the 9) as you can do.

     2) Prepared Solo - “April in Paris” - from the Real Book -

Eb (Alto/Bari) p.36 of the pdf; Bb (Trumpet/Tenors) p.35 of the pdf; Bass Clef (Trombones) p.36 of the pdf

  • Play WITH the backing track!

  • 1st time - Play the “head” (the tune)

  • 2nd time - improv (OPTIONAL)

     3) Sight-reading 

 

RHYTHM - Audition will consist of:

      Piano/Bass/Guitar

     1) As many Major Scales Swung (Up to the 9) as you can do.

     2) Prepared Solo - “April in Paris” - from the Real Book

  • 2nd time - Walk/Backing Chords

  • 3rd time - Improv (OPTIONAL)
