Fundraising

Fundraising plays an important role in supporting the success of the West Johnston High School Band Program. The cost of operating a strong and competitive band program extends far beyond student participation fees. Fundraising helps provide the resources, equipment, instruction, and opportunities our students need to grow as musicians, performers, and leaders.

General Fund Fundraisers

General Fund fundraisers support the Band Program as a whole. Money earned through these fundraisers goes into the Band’s General Fund and is used to help cover program-wide needs throughout the year.

These funds may help support items such as:

  • Sheet music and arrangements

  • Classroom and rehearsal supplies

  • Clinicians and guest instructors

  • Instrument maintenance and repairs

  • In-class support

  • Equipment needs

  • General operating expenses

  • Student support and program enrichment

These fundraisers benefit all students by helping keep the band program strong, organized, and well-supported.

Special Fundraisers

At times, the Band Program may hold special fundraisers for a specific need or project. Unlike General Fund fundraisers, money earned through these efforts is designated for a particular purpose.

Examples may include fundraising for:

  • A new equipment trailer

  • New or replacement instruments

  • Uniform-related needs

  • Large equipment purchases

  • Travel or special performance opportunities

  • Other major program improvements

Special fundraisers allow families, supporters, alumni, and community members to help the program reach specific goals that directly benefit our students.

Volunteer Fundraising Opportunities

Our Band Parent Association also partners with local venues and organizations to provide volunteer-based fundraising opportunities. These events allow parents, guardians, family members, alumni, and approved volunteers to give their time while helping raise funds for the Band Program as a whole, as well as earn credits towards student fair share amount.

Lenovo Center

Volunteers have the opportunity to work events at Lenovo Center. These events may include concerts, sporting events, and other large public gatherings. By volunteering, our program as a whole earns funds while also representing our school and band community in a positive way.

Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek

Volunteers may also work events at Coastal Credit Union Music Park at Walnut Creek. This is another valuable opportunity for our band families and supporters to help raise money through event staffing while supporting the needs of the Band Program.

House of Raeford Chicken Fundraiser

The House of Raeford Chicken fundraiser is a popular fundraising opportunity that allows families and supporters to purchase quality chicken products while helping support the Band Program. This fundraiser is a great way for community members to contribute while receiving a product they can use and enjoy.

RaiseRight

Support the Band Program through everyday purchases with RaiseRight. By purchasing gift cards for stores, restaurants, gas, travel, and online shopping, a percentage of each purchase is automatically donated back to our program.

RaiseRight is an easy way for families and supporters to help fund music, equipment, travel, uniforms, and other program needs — all while shopping where you already shop every day.

Why Fundraising Matters

Every fundraiser helps strengthen the Band Program and supports the students who work hard throughout the year. Whether funds are used for everyday program needs or a specific major purchase, each contribution helps create better opportunities for our students.

We are grateful for every volunteer, donor, sponsor, family member, and community supporter who helps make these opportunities possible.
